Joana is PhD in Law. Lecturer in International Law and European Union Law in Deusto Law School. Director of the Joint European Master’s in International Humanitarian Action at the University of Deusto.

Her doctoral thesis centred on the right to humanitarian aid. Her research focus areas and specialist fields include: Law and humanitarian action and International Humanitarian Law. She has published a number of articles in these fields and taken part in different research projects financed by national and international institutions.
