500 years since the conversion of Saint Ignatius of Loyola20th May 2021 - 31st July 2022

An experience that transformed Ignatius forever

Ignatius 500

Ignatius 500 is the Ignatian Year that we celebrate to commemorate the 500th anniversary of an experience that transformed Ignatius of Loyola forever. For him it meant "seeing all things new in Christ". A spiritual experience in the midst of the European Renaissance connects with the profound mutations to which humanity in the third millennium seems to be heading. What happened then can be inspiring now.

Each era is called to its own conversion

Personal change at a critical moment in the life of St. Ignatius is today a guide for a world struggling to grasp its meaning at the start of the 21st century. This is the belief of the Ignatian Year. It proposes a return to the history of that transformation since change became a spirituality for the world' s renewal. Each era is called to its own conversion and needs to discover it.

Our university joins in this attempt and invites us to enter into this Ignatian Year.

VIRTUAL REALITY ESCAPE ROOM

We have created a virtual escape room in the Chapel of the Conversion, the room where Ignatius of Loyola struggled between life and death 500 years ago. In this experience you will have to solve different challenges to overcome the game.

UNIJES Dialogues: Where are we heading?

Pursuing changes with transformative power: Daniel Innerarity

Francisco José Ruiz Pérez SJ, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Deusto, talks to Professor Daniel Innerarity, philosopher and essayist, Ikerbasque researcher and director of Globernance. What changes are underway with real transformative power? Are we witnessing real leaps of consciousness towards a fuller, more reconciled world, or only superficial adaptations?
