Equality at Deusto

Deusto's commitment is to contribute to a change of culture that helps to overcome discrimination against girls and young women in access to quality education, to promote strategies for equality in the workplace and in public representation and to prevent sexual or sexist violence.

The current Equality Plan aims to transform our institutional cultureto achieve genuine equality, by effectively incorporating the gender perspective in our teaching, research and transfer activities, thus contributing to social change.

  • People management: selection, recruitment, promotion, remuneration system and work-life balance measures.
  • Teaching and Research.
  • Leadership model: equal representation in decision-making, inclusive and transformative leadership.
  • Prevention and reporting of sexual or sexist violence.
  • Institutional relations and communication to overcome sexist stereotypes.

Since 2003, the Master's Degree in Intervention in Violence against Women at the University of Deusto has been a pioneering and unique benchmark in providing specific training in the field of intervention in violence against women in response to a great social demand in this area. It was also recognised with the Emakunde Equality Award in 2018.
