ENVIRONMENT AT DEUSTO

The challenges posed by the rapid deterioration of our environment are becoming increasingly urgent. That is why we want to build a university that is more aware, responsible and involved in caring for nature, as stated in the University of Deusto Environmental Sustainability Statement.

We want to build a new culture that incorporates environmental sustainability criteria in our project, activities and behaviour by providing a university response based on our ignatian tradition and in collaboration with society at large.

Environment Plan

We are inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato SI' on Care for Our Common Home and many public policies in which we want to be involved. In particular, we support national and international strategies that promote the university' s role in sustainable development, or emphasise sustainability as a key principle in research and innovation.

Our lines of action are as follows:

  • Raising awareness and educating the university community
  • Curriculum for sustainability
  • Environmentally responsible management
  • Research for sustainability

What kind of waste do we generate at the University?

Waste management

The University of Deusto is an institution whose daily activities have an impact on the environment. The generation of waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, is an intrinsic consequence of the teaching, research and ancillary activities that take place on the University's campuses. To this end, the university has a plan to minimise the amount of waste generated, its reuse and recycling, as well as to ensure its proper disposal.
