    Find answers to your queries

    Learn all about university jargon

If you are about to enter university or have been there for a short time, there are some basic concepts that you should be aware of.

In this video we will explain the most common ones: bachelor’s degrees, double degrees, ECTS credits, Deusto degrees, specialisations, dual degrees, honour loans, etc.

A practical and dynamic learning method

    Deusto learning model (MAUD)

    01

    Experiential context

We know that we learn from experience. Therefore, at Deusto, our starting point is students’ previous knowledge.

    02

    Reflective observation

Once these preliminary outlines have been established, it is essential to observe them and also to question them.

    03

    Conceptualisation

We compare our previous knowledge with written theory on the subject.

    04

    Active learning

Learning needs not only to understand that theory but to put it into practice. To this end, activities, exercises, practices, projects and/or research work are carried out, where each student applies different skills.

    05

    Assessment

Finally, the assessment process involves reflection on what the student has learned and evaluation of the work completed.

    LIVING AND STUDYING ABROAD

    INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

In third year, students who meet the academic and language requirements can access an international mobility experience for either a full year or half a year. Thus, in addition to gaining knowledge of another culture, you will learn to adapt to new situations and develop your language skills.

Within the mobility programmes we can highlight the ERASMUS + (international mobility) and SICUE (national mobility) programmes.

    SOCIAL EDUCATION

    Undergraduate Final Year Project

In fourth year, you will develop the Undergraduate Final Year Project. It is compulsory and is defended in public.

You will have the opportunity to demonstrate that..

    - You have acquired the knowledge and competences required for the degree in Social Education.

    - You have the ability to raise questions and queries on a relevant topic in Social Education.

    - You have a rigorous system for finding possible answers to these questions.

In order to enrol for fourth year, students must have completed, or at least enrolled for, all of the core and compulsory subjects in the programme syllabus.

    Course content

The Undergraduate Final Year Project is a work project of a theoretical, empirical or applied nature related to one of the four possible lines of intervention in the Social Education degree (the same as those used to structure the Practicum).

The Undergraduate Final Year Project and the Practicum are carried out in parallel throughout the final year, which will help you a lot when choosing the subject matter, raising questions and familiarising yourself with the resolution processes.

    What are the topics?

Your work will be related to socio-educational intervention in one of these four areas:

    - Social Services

    - Labor market insertion

    - Leisure, Culture and Community Development

    - Citizenship

    Theoretical-empirical or applied project

The work can be of a theoretical-empirical nature and should be based on the systematic collection and analysis of bibliographical information or actual data. Hence, the state of the art on a relevant topic in Social Education should be described, verified and an answer should be given to a problem or research question.

The applied work is carried out on based on the analysis of the reality and, by comparing it with the contributions of the scientific and professional community, socio-educational intervention projects are designed and/or evaluated.

    Academic regulations

It is important to know the regulations governing undergraduate degree programmes. They contain full information about the number of exam sessions you are allowed to sit, requirements to continue in the degree programme (minimum number of credits you must pass per year, moving on to the next year of study, maximum time allowed to complete the degree….), regulations for recognition of credits and the General Academic Regulations.

You can see all the academic regulations on the Academic Regulations section on the Deusto student website you can consult all the academic regulations.
