    Career opportunities

    The career development of graduates of this programme mainly focuses on roles dealing with the ethics of digitisation and AI in various organisations, whether public or private. These roles involve adopting ethical approaches to manage conflicts, crises, risks or vulnerabilities that arise in the field of digitalisation and AI, especially when the stability of these systems is threatened or adequate attention to ethical issues is not sufficiently ensured.



     

     

    Lack of or insufficient knowledge, capacity or willingness to address the ethical implications of digitisation and AI in public policy-making: Governmental organisations, think tanks, non-governmental organisations focusing on technology and society. This includes such professional commitments as:

    - Advise and educate policy makers, professionals and citizens on the benefits, risks and ethical challenges of digitisation and artificial intelligence, as well as on good practices and criteria of quality and social responsibility.

    - Promote and participate in public deliberation and consultation processes that involve different social actors and stakeholders in the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies related to digitisation and artificial intelligence.

    - Encourage and support social and collaborative innovation initiatives that use digital technologies and artificial intelligence to solve social problems, improve the quality of life and strengthen participatory democracy.

    Lack of or insufficient knowledge, capacity or willingness on the importance of ethics and legality in digitisation and AI: Law firm specialising in technology, compliance departments in technology companies, privacy and digital rights organisations. This includes such professional commitments as:

    - Expert or member of international committees, working groups or networks promoting the development of standards, recommendations or ethical principles for artificial intelligence that ensure respect for human rights and ethical principles in the development and use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

     

    Lack of or insufficient skills to ethically manage data in digital and AI environments, including privacy and data protection issues: Data management roles, data analytics companies, data privacy consulting organisations. This includes such professional commitments as:

    - Consultant or advisor on the ethics of artificial intelligence for companies, organisations or institutions developing or using these emerging technologies.

    - Manager or coordinator of projects or initiatives that apply artificial intelligence in a responsible, inclusive and sustainable way, respecting human rights and human dignity.

    Lack of or insufficient knowledge, skills or willingness about the importance of ethics in digital education and the use of AI in personal and professional training: Online educational institutions, e-learning platforms, educational technology companies, ethics departments in universities and schools, researcher or lecturer in academia, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and training in this cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary discipline by generating knowledge on the social, economic, cultural and environmental impacts of digitisation and artificial intelligence, as well as on the opportunities and challenges for sustainable and inclusive development.
