Admission criteria

Overall grade equal to or higher than 8 in the second cycle studies leading to the degree of Licentiatus in Theologia. The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme may consider the admission of those candidates with a lower grade, or exclude those who have obtained the aforementioned grade after assessing in each case, the record of the second cycle studies and the dissertation prepared and defended to obtain the degree, as well as other possible academic or scientific merits.

Language requirements

Knowledge of at least two modern languages of relevance within the scientific production in Theology (English, German, French, Italian), in addition to Spanish, with a sufficient level to handle the corresponding scientific bibliography.

Candidates

who do not come from a country where Spanish is an official language must prove (by means of a personal interview) that they have sufficient knowledge of the language to ensure their participation in the programme.

Theology

Training activities

Doctoral students will undertake the necessary training activities to develop competences in:

  • Research Ethics.
  • Research methodology.
  • Digital bibliographical resources.

Each doctoral student must choose one of the following two courses each year 

  • Theological Methodology Seminar
  • Biblical Methodology Seminar.

Doctoral students will also carry out the following activities.

  • Participate in congresses or conferences on theology.
  • Participate in a quarterly research seminar with doctoral students.
  • Publish at least one article in theological journals.
  • Spend at least two weeks at another university or research centre.
