MENU / About the PhD programmeWithin the framework of higher studies dependent on the Holy See , the highest academic level in the field of Theology is that of Doctor in Theologia, which in Spain is equivalent to a PhD degree (Spanish Official Diploma) (Royal Decree 1619/2011, of 14 November).
This Programme has been organised in accordance with the guidelines of the Apostolic Constitution Veritatis Gaudium of 29 January 2018, the guidelines of Circular Letter number 6 of the Congregation for Catholic Education of 30 March 2009, the General Statutes of the University of Deusto, article 18 of the Statutory Annex of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Deusto and the Academic Regulations for Doctoral Programmes at the University of Deusto.
This guide details the general rules and the training and research activities that doctoral students must carry out during the 2025-2026 academic year.
