The Master's degree is fully aligned with the guidelines and recommendations issued by the General Secretariat of Universities (BOE (Spanish Official Gazette). 4 August 2009, issue 187), which establishes the organisation of official university degree programmes.

This master's degree combines the development of the specific competences of Computer Engineers, together with another set of generic competences required of any university graduate. The overall aim is to train highly versatile and competent professionals in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). It also seeks to provide them with a twofold career path focused on professional development and research, looking at the practice of computer engineering both in the company and in innovation and research centres.

GOALS

Students will be able to:

Acquire higher level responsibilities in key technology areas, coupled with solid knowledge in direct relation to business needs in a changing scenario.
Develop distinctive technical aspects and the competences linked to performance in the management of computer engineering projects, which will enable them to become competent engineers in their organisations.
Carry out a transition process towards their professional life, with personal support, adapting the competences already acquired.
Acquire experience as engineers who know the business reality, while at the same time they have the technological tools for its transformation.
Choose the best path to start their career, from the different specialist pathways offered, which represent the main opportunity scenarios of the current labour market in the field of Computer Engineering.

The teaching methods on the Master's Degree in Computer Engineering are characterised by a practical approach, which brings students closer to the reality of professional practice as Computer Engineers both in its business and scientific aspects, thanks to the participation of companies in all subjects through teaching or through lectures and thematic seminars.

The teaching-learning methods used in the Master's degree in Computer Engineering are based on the Deusto Education Model, whose main aim is to achieve students’ autonomous and significant learning, and promote their personal development in various aspects (personal, social, ethical, academic and professional).

STUDYING AND WORKING AT THE SAME TIMEDUAL AWARD

HOW WILL YOU STUDY?

If you choose this pathway and you meet the requirements, you will acquire knowledge and skills directly within the company while pursuing your master’s degree. You will be able undertake a dual training pathway worth 18 ECTS.

LEARNING METHODS

You will put into practice what you have learnt and acquire new knowledge outside the classroom. The teaching staff at the university and your tutors at the partner companies will jointly guide you throughout the course.

FACE REAL CHALLENGES IN BUSINESS

You will get to know the company and the projects before finishing the master's degree, which can speed up your integration into the working environment.

MASTER’S FINAL PROJECT

During the last semester of the programme you will be working on your Final Year Project in a company.

WAGED EMPLOYMENT

The dual award meets the criteria of the Deusto Dual Education Model and those required by Royal Decree 822/2021 to obtain a Dual Mention. This means that you will be able to opt for a pathway in which you can alternate your academic training at university with a paid work activity directly related to your training. If you follow this pathway, thanks to a tailor-made training project and the support of a tutor at the University and another in the company, you will be able to make the most of your experience in both worlds. The legal link between the collaborating entity and the student will be by means of a dual university training contract regulated by current legislation (Royal Decree 822/2021).

STUDENT ASSESSMENT

The objective is to enhance student motivation in alignment with corporate objectives, ensuring that each student can join a company that matches their interests, while each company welcomes a student whose profile meets their requirements. Companies will be invited to the headquarters to present their business activities and the training plan for students of this degree to all students. In this way, students will become acquainted with the companies and have the necessary information to evaluate them all.

Participants for the dual pathway will be selected strictly based on their academic record.

Once participants are selected, they will be assigned to companies with the aim of enhancing student motivation in alignment with corporate objectives, ensuring that each student can join a company that matches their interests, while each company welcomes a student whose profile meets their requirements. To this end, companies will be invited to the university to present their business activities and the training plan for the students of this master's degree to all students. In this way, students will become acquainted with the companies and have the necessary information to evaluate them all; in turn, the companies will evaluate the student profile with which they wish to collaborate. This choice will be based on the following criteria:

Participant’s order of preference for the proposed companies and organisations (25 points).

Participant’s academic record in the degree programme (50 points).

Specific Motivation Letter regarding company preference and the participant’s full curriculum vitae (25 points).

Students must successfully pass the selection process with one of the collaborating companies to be admitted.

Each student will be supervised by an academic facilitator and a company facilitator, who will meet with students regularly to monitor the progress of their dual training in accordance with a pre-established. individualised activity plan.

Assessment will be shared by the subject lecturer and the two facilitators so that both the competences developed by the student throughout the internship period at the company, the implementation of the tailor-made activity plan and the technical competences of the subject can be assessed.
