THE IMPORTANCE OF LANGUAGES:

MULTILINGUAL PROFESSIONALS

The 240 ECTS credits of the Bachelor’s degree programme are divided into core, compulsory and elective subjects, internships and the Undergraduate Final Year Project. You can combine subjects in Spanish, English, Basque (optional) and a fourth international language.

ENGLISH (optional and compulsory)
You will take several compulsory subjects in English and you can optionally take more subjects in English.

You must provide proof of having a B2 English level to successfully complete this programme.

BASQUE (elective)
You can choose to take subjects in Basque every year and enrol for the subjects offered in Basque in that academic year.

Throughout this degree programme, you will also have the opportunity to earn enough credits in the Basque language to obtain the C1 level (Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV), 16 April 2012.

FOURTH LANGUAGE (elective and compulsory)
You can choose a fourth language from French, German or Chinese.

LEARNING OTHER LANGUAGES (optional and compulsory)

You will take several compulsory subjects in English and you can study some more elective subjects in English. To gain the Bachelor’s degree, you will have to provide proof of having a B2 level of English, not applicable to students of the new syllabus.

You can enrol for subjects in Basque each academic year and you will have the opportunity to enrol in the subjects offered in Basque in that academic year every year.

In addition to English, we also offer German, French and Chinese. All languages start at an elementary level, with some exceptions, and you can complete the learning of these languages and other cultures by taking the second semester of the third year (30 ECTS) abroad.

You will be able to study the 1st semester of your 4th year at another university, where you will learn first-hand about another cultural and economic context. This will allow you to develop intercultural competences, providing you with an experience of personal growth and developing adaptability to new environments.

Deusto stands out for its extensive experience in international exchange programmes and this experience has allowed us to establish relationships with international universities and select the most interesting ones.

At the host university you will take subjects previously agreed with your tutor at Deusto. During your international stay, we closely supervise each student from the University of Deusto.

You will start with the core competences of tourism and aspects of operations and processes.

You will study subjects related to business administration and management and tourist businesses.

You will put your knowledge and skills into practice in professional contexts through the internships and the Undergraduate Final Year Project.
In the first semester you can take part in a mobility scheme at a Spanish or foreign university.

INTERNATIONAL TRADE SKILLS (CAMPUS BILBAO)

If you want to be a professional in the challenges of international tourism and would like to know the keys to the sudden tourism success of countries like Iceland or Mianmar, or study the reasons for the tourism boom, then this is your Deusto degree programme.

Throughout the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism you will be trained in the sector as a whole, working in areas such as tourism sciences, foreign languages and a solid training in management for the development of managerial functions.

If you want to differentiate yourself and specialise, the specific degrees that are offered throughout the degree are the perfect complement.

UNDERGRADUATE FINAL YEAR PROJECT

Throughout the 2nd semester of your 4th year of study, you will carry out a research project, its presentation and oral defence in public. You will choose a topic from the following list to prepare the Final Year Project and you can write it in Spanish, Basque or English.
