Ornela Bardhi, researcher in the H2020 ITN CATCH Project at the University of Deusto, has been the first #SuperWoman launching the Albanian Role Models in Tech series, talking about Data Preprocessing with Python and about Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Innovative Training Networks (ITN).
The webinar was attended by more than 30 people from different countries and it included time for questions. During the debate, Ornela was asked for advice to young girls who want to study computer science. Ornela´s advice to everyone, not only girls, was to focus on learning things step by step and not get discouraged if they want to study computer science. She explained that people should try out things they want to learn and do, in order to find out whether they are good at them.
Ornela´s research focuses on applying machine learning techniques and algorithms on medical data, especially on electronic healthcare records. She holds a triple MSc. degree in Pervasive Computing and Communication for Sustainable Development, a joined European master programme and she is founder and co-founder of 2 startups, in Sweden and Finland, respectively. She is an active member of the Marie Curie Alumni Association where she holds the board member position at the MCAA Western Balkans Chapter.
Ornela will also be one of the jury members of the Albanian ICT Awards, one of the main technology events in Albania. She was one of the finalists for the Women in Tech award two years ago and she will be the youngest jury member since it started 8 years ago.
