A team of researchers from the University of Deusto, Orkestra and Ruhr-Universität Bochum was awarded the prize for the best paper at the International Conference on Business Servitization held on November 7 and 8 in Lisbon. Entitled “Exploring the Role of Regional Policy in Territorial Servitization”, the study analyzes how regional policies can affect the relationships between manufacturing firms and knowledge intensive business service providers (KIBS). The research compares two similar territorial servitization environments, the Basque Country and the Ruhr area, but with different policy visions.
This paper has been conducted within the TerriServ Project, funded by the Seed Fund initiative of UNIC4ER, part of the UNIC Alliance of which the University of Deusto is a member. TerriServ, in addition to comparing differences and similarities between the aforementioned regions, aims to propose actions in the field of territorial servitization. The results of the project have resulted in articles for research journals, informative reports, measures for the development of cities and regions and participation in international conferences, such as the one mentioned above, which has recognized the work of this research.
TerriServ is one of the projects funded under the Seed Fund initiative of UNIC4ER, a call that has supported the development of projects and engaged research collaborations between universities of the UNIC Alliance to address social challenges of post-industrial cities. Lorea Narvaiza, Deusto researcher of the TerriServ project, highlights the value of this initiative to promote international and interdisciplinary collaboration and to carry out direct research with impact. In her words “it has been a pleasure to work with the team that has been put together for this project, which has brought together experts from different disciplines and backgrounds, with the common goal of carrying out rigorous yet practical work in a climate of trust and commitment”.
