The University of Deusto and BBVA have renewed their collaboration agreement, which includes support for projects in the field of ethics in the digital world and scholarships for undergraduate students in the humanities and social sciences, as well as for researchers in training. This agreement, signed by BBVA's Northern Territory Manager, Marta Alonso, and the Rector of the University of Deusto, Juan José Etxeberria, reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to promoting the transfer of knowledge to society.
For Marta Alonso, ‘education, research and knowledge sharing have always been indisputable priorities for us. At BBVA, together with the University of Deusto, we want to promote educational opportunities and academic research for yet another year’. For his part, Juan José Etxeberria stressed the need to continue sharing our mission as a university with institutions such as BBVA, which ‘are essential for us to be able to carry out our activity at the service of people's welfare within the framework of a society that is increasingly more supportive, more developed and more committed to the progress of all its citizens’.
The collaboration also includes, continuing the work begun in recent years, an item earmarked for the knowledge dissemination activities organised by DeustoForum, which position the University as an international meeting place for current debates. Likewise, the funding received will promote the generation and transfer of knowledge, the establishment of collaboration processes inside and outside the University of Deusto, as well as participation in international university research networks.
Within the framework of this agreement, BBVA reinforces its support for the Deusto Cities Lab chair, an initiative dedicated to the development of citizen participation projects, advice to different public institutions and the production of materials and reflection of interest to citizens and public administrations.
