The University of Deusto celebrates on Thursday, March 27, World Theater Day, the annual university theater showcase with the staging of an adaptation of the play “The Miser” by Molière that will be performed by students who form the university theater group Trikiñuela at the Bilbao campus under the direction of actress and professor Raquel Olmos. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the University.

This university adaptation recovers the essence of the Italian commedia dell'arte, a genre that deeply influenced the construction of the characters and its scenic dynamics. Invitations with numbered seats can be requested at the general information point on the Bilbao campus up to half an hour before the start of the performance.

Other performances

In addition to this exhibition, in May, the group of debutants, composed of students who have begun their training in the dramatic arts this year, will present in Bilbao an adaptation of “El Nido” by the playwrights Álvarez Quintero. During the same month, at the San Sebastian campus, several students will stage the text “Ya es la hora” by Tomás Afán under the direction of actor and professor Peio Arnáez.

And after premiering the theatrical productions on both campuses, the students will return to the stage in June to participate in the XXXVI edition of the Muestra de Teatro Joven that the Youth Department of the San Sebastián City Council organizes in different cultural spaces of the city.
