Within the framework of the European projects RESCHAPE (Reshaping Supply Chains for Positive Social Impact) and CROCEMS (Collaborative Robotics for Circular Economy in Manufacturing Sectors), the University of Deusto presented, last Wednesday, October 30, during a breakfast-colloquium, various initiatives and innovative strategies to improve the social and environmental impact of supply chains.
The day served as a presentation of the RESCHAPE project, which aims to transform supply chains through more sustainable and resilient practices. The CROCEMS project, focused on the use of the circular economy as a tool for growth in the manufacturing industry, was also discussed.
In addition, the workshop addressed “Social Accounting,” a tool to measure and reflect the contribution of organizations and their supply chains to society, assessing their impact on key stakeholders such as workers, customers, suppliers, and the community. To this end, a round table was organized to discuss the application of this method, along with other environmental and social initiatives. Experts from Lantegi Batuak, IHOBE, and Vidrala (sponsor of Forotech 2024, where this conference was held) participated and shared their experiences and perspectives.
The second part of the meeting was dedicated to exploring social, economic, and environmental sustainability in the field of logistics outsourcing, with special emphasis on the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve this practice based on social criteria. Ultimately, the symposium discussed how companies can contribute to sustainability, not only in their operations, but also by taking co-responsibility with the rest of their supply chain.
