The University of Deusto, through the research group Deusto Physical Therapiker, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Association Retina Bizkaia Begisare to develop a Physiotherapy project aimed at people with low vision and blindness, within the framework of the Social Campus initiative.

The project aims that physiotherapy students, tutored by their teacher Xabier García, get to know the daily reality that blind or visually impaired people live. In collaboration with the Retina Begisare Association, they will be able to familiarize themselves both with the difficulties experienced by their users and with the accessibility alternatives that the environment offers them.

The Social Campus is an initiative aimed at putting the University's resources and knowledge at the service of vulnerable groups, acting as a “one-stop shop” for social entities in the third sector that require specifically university collaboration services.

Deusto Physical Therapiker is a multidisciplinary team that researches, from a biopsychosocial approach, different areas of physiotherapy. It aims to integrate different health-related professions and collaborate with technological, health and research institutions at national and international level.
