The investiture ceremony for graduates in Business Administration & Law and Business Administration & Computer Engineering took place at the Donostia-San Sebastián campus of the University of Deusto. These graduates belong to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration - Deusto Business School, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto, corresponding to the 2023-2024 academic year.
The ceremony was held at Loiola Centrum, presided over by the campus vice-rector, Xabier Riezu, in the presence of a representation of the university faculty and staff from the mentioned faculties, who have accompanied the students throughout their five-year journey of personal and professional growth.
The investiture ceremony is a significant event in university life. Among those participating were Álvaro de la Rica (Dean of Deusto Business School), José Ramón Intxaurbe (Dean of the Faculty of Law), Asier Perallos (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering), Ignacio Muñoz (Vice President of Deusto Business Alumni), Mila Pérez (Deputy Secretary of Deusto Business School), María Aramburu and Jon Munduate (speakers representing the graduates of the dual degree programs), Ane Egaña (representing the Business Administration & Law graduates), and Iker Villena (representing the Business Administration & Computer Engineering graduates). Jon Sagastagoitia, SJ, gave a blessing to the new graduates in an emotional moment.
María and Jon, in their speech on behalf of their classmates, reflected on their university years, highlighting their experiences, acquired knowledge, and skills. They took the opportunity to express their gratitude to the professors, university staff, family, and friends, dedicating heartfelt words to them.
The saxophone quartet HALOS SAXOFONES, from Musikene, the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country, performed during the musical interlude. Additionally, the EASO Gazte eta Eskolania Choir, under the direction of Gorka Miranda and accompanied by pianist David de Oliveira, participated in the opening of the event with "Agur Jaunak" and concluded the ceremony with "Gaudeamus Igitur."
In addition to completing two degrees in five years, all students who wished to had the opportunity to study a semester at one of 65 universities across 27 countries with which Deusto Business School in Donostia-San Sebastián has established international exchange agreements in Europe, America, and Asia-Pacific. Starting from the 2023-2024 academic year, thanks to the redesign of the Business Administration degree, new cohorts will be able to incorporate this international experience within their five years of study without extending their academic program. Moreover, 100% of students complete their studies with at least one professional experience, thanks to a well-established network of over 500 companies with which collaboration agreements have been signed. This is all part of the comprehensive education offered at Deusto Business School, where international perspective and practical orientation are two of its distinguishing features.
These new graduates will now become part of Deusto Business Alumni, an association with more than 7,000 members working in over 2,700 different companies. Its foundational objective is to efficiently respond to business demands and needs. According to the latest survey conducted in 2024, for this cohort, the employment rate six months after graduation from Deusto Business School was 98%.
These have been years of intense effort, culminating in this day of celebration, not only for the graduates but also for their families, who have supported them with great dedication. It is also a significant moment for the University itself, which takes great satisfaction in fulfilling its mission of service toward a society committed to the values of justice and equality.
