Alboan, the University of Deusto, the Jesuitak Indautxu school and the Ellacuria Foundation are holding the solidarity race “Run for a cause, run for Children in emergency” on February 16th in Bilbao. This event, which is part of the “Run for a cause” circuit of Entreculturas and Alboan, supports this year the right to education of children in emergency situations.
Developed in 15 cities, this initiative aims to invite people to reflect on how the world is a shared space where crises, although they may seem distant, have common roots and can affect everyone on the planet to one degree or another. As an example of this, within the projects to which the funds raised will go, we have included lines of action that are being carried out in Valencia as a result of the DANA.
In addition to Valencia, the funds will go to projects that Alboan and Entreculturas have in Lebanon, Tanzania and Chad, countries where they work to ensure that children living in emergency contexts have a safe space in which to play, train and grow. This is essential in a world where armed conflicts, climate change and natural disasters are having an increasingly direct impact on the most vulnerable children.
Sunday's event
The race, which aims to be a sporting and festive day open to the whole family, will start from the esplanade of the Maritime Museum, in front of the Grúa Carola, at 11:00 am for those who choose the 6.3 km. walk and a few minutes later for those who prefer 5.3 km. Bib numbers will be handed in on February 13 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and on February 14 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the Alboan headquarters in Bilbao (c/ Padre Lojendio 2, 2º), and on the day of the race from 10:30 am at the starting area. In addition, there is a dorsal zero for those who can not attend, but also want to collaborate with the cause.
