Students will be able to acquire competences in a logical time progression, moving from core skills to specific skills. In this way, you will acquire the necessary skills to become a professional in Physiotherapy and Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. You will work on various competences in the following modules:
During the first two years, you will study the basic knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology, Evaluation, Research, Communication Skills, etc., which will serve as a continuous and transversal complement to other subjects.
In the Physiotherapy degree, you will study pathologies, specific therapeutic methodologies and their practical applicationby specialty and semester. In this way, learning is organised in a structured and logical way.
Year after year you will studysubjects specific to the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences: physical activity and sports teaching, sports training, physical activity and health, sports management and recreation, etc.
Biopsychosocial healthcare, communication skills development, training in legislation and professional ethics are intended to provide values education that is of great importance for this profession.
It is made up of a range of subjects that respond to specific populations at different stages of the life cycle and others specific to Physiotherapy:paediatrics, uro-gynaecology, geriatrics, sports physio, etc.
You will have the opportunity to do 1000 hours of clinical practice in various centres with the support of a tutor. In fourth year, you will do the Physiotherapy Final Year Project and in fifth year, the final project for the Physical Activity and Sports Sciences degree. Both will help you to demonstrate everything you have learnt.
01
We know that we learn from experience. Therefore, at Deusto, our starting point is students’ previous knowledge.
02
Once these preliminary outlines have been established, it is essential to observe them and also to question them.
03
We compare our previous knowledge with written theory on the subject.
04
Learning needs not only to understand that theory but to put it into practice. To this end, activities, exercises, practices, projects and/or research work are carried out, where each student applies different skills.
05
Finally, the assessment process involves reflection on what the student has learned and evaluation of the work completed.
Inyour third year, if you meet the academic and language requirements, you will be able to access an international mobility experience for a full academic year. Mobility will be for one semester according to the agreements signed with each institution. Thus, in addition to gaining knowledge of another culture, you will learn to adapt to new situations and develop your language skills.
Within the mobility programmes we can highlight the ERASMUS + (international mobility) and SICUE (national mobility) programmes.
In the double degree, you will do two Final Degree Projects: in 4th year, the Physiotherapy Project (6 ECTS) and in 5th year the Physical Activity and Sports Sciences Project (6 ECTS). The Final Project is a report or original study that you will have to carry out personally under the supervision of a tutor, who will guide you and facilitate your learning.
They are compulsory and are defended publicly in the second semester of the fourth and fifth years. To enrol in 4th year, you must have completed, or at least enrolled for all of the core and compulsory subjects in the programme syllabus.
Faculty of Health Sciences will determine the topics, according to the nature of each degree.
