    About the Master's degree

    Legal Psychology is a specialised field of psychological work and research focused on the study of the behaviour of legal actors within the fields of law, legislation, and justice. Following the professional profile of the legal psychologist (General Council of Psychology of Spain, n.d.), this discipline "includes the study, explanation, promotion, evaluation, prevention, and, where appropriate, advice and/or treatment of psychological, behavioural, and relational phenomena that affect individuals' legal behaviour, through the use of methods specific to Scientific Psychology, thereby covering various fields and levels of study and intervention." These fields include psychology applied to the courts; prison psychology; criminological psychology; judicial psychology (testimony, jury); police and military psychology; victimology; and mediation.

    Aim

    • Provide students with insight into the reality of the discipline and the fields of application of Legal and Forensic Psychology (as outlined by the General Council of Psychology):  psychology applied to the courts, family law psychology, civil law psychology, labour law psychology, criminal law psychology, legal psychology and minors, prison psychology, psychology of testimony, victimology, and mediation.
    • Specialise psychology professionals in the principles of forensic assessment, train them in preparing expert reports across various jurisdictions, and prepare them for intervention with victims and offenders
    • Address key issues within the discipline, such as forensic assessment, criminological aspects related to criminal behaviour, victim assessment, minors within the justice system, and the role of psychology within prison settings. 

    Teaching Quality

    The Master's degree in Legal and Forensic Psychology is taught by leading university lecturerswith extensive legal and forensic experience.
