The aim of this course is to promote a learning process that may facilitate the acquisition of the necessary knowledge and competences to carry out the functions of a tourist information assistant. It has been designed by the Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto, in collaboration with Tourist Information Centres, and it is born with the aim of addressing the 'lack' of professionals in this field.

In this regard, the programme will enable students to know the main features of the tourist demand in the Basque Country. In addition, they will learn to recognise and interpret what the Basque Country has to offer from a tourism point of view, without forgetting the main aspects related to the management of a Tourist Information Centre or customer care techniques.

This course is made up of two stages: on the one hand, the theoretical part will be held from 9 May to 27 June at the University of Deusto; and on the other hand, a practical part, which will take place from 1 June to 31 August at the Tourist Information Centres themselves. Timetable: Friday afternoon (15:30 to 19:30 pm) and Saturday morning (9:30 am to 13:30 pm).The price of the course is 750 euros, which students will be able to recover through the paid placements offered by the programme.
