This collaboration has given rise to the forthcoming launch of the Programme for Leadership Development (PLD) and the Executive Programme in Financial Management (PEDF).The Programme for Leadership Development (PLD) will start next January 2009, and it will be held in Bilbao and San Sebastian. The Executive Programme in Financial Management (PEDF) will start in February 2009, and it will be jointly held in San Sebastian by Deusto Business School (DBS), Elkargi and ESADE.
The PLD programme will be offered in collaboration between ESADE and Deusto. It is mainly designed for professionals with at least 5 years’ experience and who hold managerial positions as well as for entrepreneurs or business owners with a potential for growth. The programme will enable participants to comprehend the challenges faced by the organisation in a competitive environment, to gain a strategic vision and comprehensive view of management, and to develop the management competences needed to meet new professional challenges in today’s economic context.
With regards to the PEDF programme, it is jointly taught by DBS, ESADE and Elkargi, and it is designed for professionals in the financial area of the company, with at least two years’ professional experience in managerial positions, or who wish to gain a deeper insight into the financial implications involved in top-level decision-making.The aim of this educational initiative is to make participants explore the key principles and issues concerned with the current and future financial management and to improve the quality of decision-making.
Thus in the mid-term, DBS and ESADE seek to jointly offer a new range of courses, well-differentiated from those of the competition, focused on the development of the competences typical of leadership, and geared towards the first Executive Education segment. In addition, it is envisaged that there will be collaboration in a number of joint research lines, which will be supported by chairs to promote knowledge creation of the highest international level.
ESADE, which started its activities in 1958, has campuses in Barcelona, Madrid and Buenos Aires, and it has signed collaboration agreements with over one hundred universities and business schools worldwide. Each year, over 6,000 students take part in the Executive Education and MBA programmes run by ESADE Business School, or study undergraduate and PhD courses and the MSc in Law and Business Administration and Management at ESADE.With a clear international approach, in 2007, and for the second year running, it was ranked as the top business school at international level by The Wall Street Journal. At present, ESADE has a network of over 38,000 former students holding managerial positions in companies across five continents.
Deusto Business School (DBS) is the new Business School at the University of Deusto, and it provides a clear international dimension in many aspects:course content, faculty, participants, joint programmes and international alliances. In spite of its recent creation, this School is backed by the University of Deusto, an institution with over 120 years’ experience. Therefore, from its beginning, DBS has a powerful network of over 15,000 former students; the rigour and relevance of the hallmark of Deusto; a Board of Directors made up of leading figures in the economic and business world, and the advantage of being integrated into a professional network that collaborates in the educational programmes.
