The University of Deusto will launch the new Degree in Medicine after receiving the favourable report of Unibasq (Agency for Quality of the Basque University System). The new Degree will start in September 2020 and offer 80 places. The Degree will be offered in a bilingual model: in English and Spanish, with the option of subjects in Euskera.

The Degree will follow new methodological approaches, such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), in which practical training plays a key role. This model has been promoted by the University of McMaster (Canada), which occupies top positions in the world rankings of Medicine, and adopted by several North American faculties.

Practical training will be a fundamental and differentiating element of the Degree. Students of the first two academic years will have access to the Emergency services as observers and have the opportunity of doing simulations in the virtual hospital that DEUSTO is installing, in complementarity with laboratory work. In the third, fourth and fifth year, students will have practices in real environments in health centres with individual support of a tutor. In addition, during the fourth academic year they will have the opportunity of studying in a foreign university.

For the implementation of the Degree, the University has signed agreements with 16 hospitals and clinics.
