This initiative has been carried out in collaboration with the Basque Government?s Social Welfare Department, Department of Housing and Social Affairs. It is framed within the 1st Strategic Line of the 2nd Basque Voluntary Service Plan, geared towards Shaping an Active Citizenship, Aware of Voluntary Services. This website is also framed within the mission of the University of Deusto, focused on promoting human rights, experience and practice of the acquired knowledge.

In fact, solidarity and voluntary services are some of the cornerstones of the University of Deusto. In this way, the university fosters these values among students and offers them the possibility of carrying out social actions within those spheres where there is a significantly higher number of groups in a situation of vulnerability and at risk of social exclusion. These include:Immigration, women, drug dependencies, AIDS sufferers, people with physical or psychic disabilities, senior citizens, childhood, etc.

At UD, there are currently a number of different initiatives related to voluntary work:Nahimena U+D SoliDE, Animo, Ellacuría, Alboan, Cooperación Internacional, Ingeniería Sin Fronteras, Institute of Leisure Studies and Ellacuria Social Centre, in collaboration with Alboan.Voluntary work at UD is enriched by the groups created at the initiative of the university itself, or with the institutions or NGOs which are closely related to their contexts, or operate within their respective areas of competence without having their main headquarters there. In addition, it will be a support tool for subjects like Social Involvement and Values, which are offered as part of the degrees in Psychology and Social Education.

Further information about these institutions can be found on this new website of the University of Deusto. In addition, it contains job advertisements, projects and programmes, an agenda to stay up to date with the activities related to voluntary services as well as university students? own opinions about their volunteering experiences. It also includes a wide range of training courses in these fields and a list of related websites.
