Coinciding with the celebration on February 11 of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, more than 100 people participated on February 6 in the opening ceremony of the 9th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian, an initiative in which the University of Deusto collaborates and which organizes activities aimed at making women scientists visible, breaking stereotypes and promoting scientific vocations.
Under the slogan “Hazia erein/ Sow the seed”, this year's edition aims to highlight the power of every small action towards equality. To this end, a video was presented during the day with testimonials from scientists, teachers, students, institutional representatives... who have experienced firsthand the importance of these small seeds of transformation, inviting reflection on the power of everyday actions to build a more egalitarian future.
More than 35 entities representing the science and technology fabric of the Basque Country are participating in this edition, which will be held between February 7 and 14 and consists of more than 60 activities throughout the Basque Country. Specifically, at the University of Deusto, a workshop on computational thinking through board games + campus visit has been organized for ESO and Bachillerato students, which will take place on February 10, at 9.30 am, at the San Sebastian campus and on February 11, also at 9.30 am, at the Bilbao campus.
