The Deusto Institute of Drug Dependencies works in a specific area of knowledge: drugs and addictions. It is a university institute because it was formally created in 1989, with the mission of bringing together the training, research and advice that the University of Deusto carried out in the field of drug addiction.
It became the first university institute founded for the purpose of training and retraining of practising professionals and drug research. It is an interdisciplinary institute because the phenomenon of drug addiction is itself interdisciplinary and its treatment and resolution is tackled through the various disciplines and areas of knowledge in which the University works. This is why we also address areas related to the drug phenomenon.
