Maria J. Pando-Canteli ORCID ID https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1272-2 791 María J. Pando-Canteli is associate professor at the University of Deusto, Bilbao (Spain) where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Gender and Cultural Studies, and English Literature. She also taught at the University of the Basque Country, and at Santa Clara University (USA). She has been a postdoctoral Fulbright fellow at Stanford University, Department of English, (2008-2009), and at the Folger Shakespeare Library, USA (2007). She has published on Literature and Gender in the early-modern period and on Women and the Media. She is currently participating in a research project (MINECO 2021-2024) on the Anti-feminist resistance in the media (ARES), and has recently participated in the European H-2020 project GEARING-Roles: Gender Equality Actions in Research Institutions to transform Gender Roles, 2018-2022, and the MINECO project Género, compromiso y transgresión en España, 1890-2016 (FEM2016-76675-P). Her last publications include co-authored articles on “Fathers in Recent Basque Literature: Representations of Ageing Masculinities by Female Writers”, (Bulletin of Spanish Studies, 2022), the “Resistances to New Masculinities in Audiovisual Representations” (International Journal of Communication, 2021), the propagation of the antifeminist backlash on Twitter (Investigaciones Feministas, 2020), on gender, activism and transgression (Arbor, 2020), and on fathers and forms of masculinity in recent Basque fiction (2022).
