Dr. Ciara O’Higgins is an Assistant Professor in Strategy and International Business at Deusto Business School. Her research focusses on the internationalisation processes of professional service firms, and her interests include international collaboration, alliance management and networking. She has published in international journals (e.g. Journal of World Business) and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Review of International Business & Strategy. She is also a member of a number of academic associations such as the Academy of International Business (AIB), Academy of Management and European International Business Association (EIBA). Previously, she worked for 20 years promoting the internationalisation of firms. She was Director for International Development at Tecnalia & Research and Innovation, responsible for the deployment of the centre’s international strategy and management of its international presence (offices, commercial network and alliance of associated innovation centres). She also participated in the ELAN Network project, a European Commission funded project led by TECNALIA to promote alliances and technology-based business opportunities between Europe and Latin America. Before this, she was a consultant at IDOM, with particular focus on international and economic development projects with multilateral funding. She obtained her undergraduate degree in European Management Science (with German) from the University of Kent at Canterbury (England), her MBA from IESE Business School (Spain), Master in Corporate Social Responsibility from the University José Camilo Cela (Spain) and her PhD from the University of Deusto (Spain).
