Santiago Larrazabal Basañez holds a PhD in Law from the University of Deusto, has been Associate Professor of Constitutional Law since 1999 and Professor of the Department of Public Law at its Faculty of Law since 2021. He has been Secretary of the Faculty of Law (1995-1997), Director of the Institute of Basque Studies (1999-2009) and Director of the Department of Public Law at the University of Deusto (2010-2013). During the 10th Legislature he was Director of the Secretariat of the Government and Relations with Parliament in the Basque Government (2013-2016). He specialises in matters relating to Basque Public Law and Constitutional Law. He has given numerous lectures, courses and seminars and has published a number of books and articles on these subjects. Among them are the following: "Contribución a una Teoría de los Derechos Históricos Vascos" (Basque Institute of Public Administration, 1997); "La foralidad de Bizkaia" (Juntas Generales de Bizkaia, 2001), published in four languages; "Derecho Público de los Territorios Forales. De los orígenes a la abolición foral" (Basque Institute of Public Administration, 2004) and the first volume of his "Curso de Derecho Constitucional", both in Spanish and Basque (University of Deusto, 2007-2008). He currently teaches at the University of Deusto the subjects "System of Sources and Constitutional Rights" and "Introduction to Law II: Constitutional Organisation of the State", in Spanish and Basque, at the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences and the Deusto Business School. He is the principal investigator of the Research Team ‘Legal Incentives for Social and Labour Challenges’ at the Faculty of Law.
