Alberto Murillo is an Industrial Engineer, holds a PhD from the University of Deusto, and is an Expert in Finite Elements from UNED. His research has focused on FEM simulation of manufacturing processes, the characterization of metal alloys at high temperatures, and their tribological behavior. After his thesis on perforating seamless tubes, he extended his interest to friction stir welding, other forming processes, and near-solidus forming (NSF). He currently leads projects aimed at improving sustainability and reducing energy consumption in metal forming processes by applying NSF, also in components for the wind energy sector, and is exploring new technologies for recycling metal chips through Thermal-CloseDie-Extrusion (TCX). He has published 18 JCR articles, 3 book chapters, and participated in 8 international conferences, in addition to collaborating on projects funded by the EU, Carbon Trust, and other entities.
