Basagaitz Guereño-Omil is a full time Professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Deusto. PhD in Leisure and Tourism (Human Sciences in the Knowledge Society programme, at University of Deusto) (2011), "Postgraduate Certificate In Cultural Tourism Development" (2006) at the University of Sunderland (UK), Master of Arts in Euroculture (2004) from the University of Deusto and the University of Uppsala (Sweden), and Degree in History-Cultural Heritage (2003) from the University of Deusto. Her research career is developed through the research group at the "Centre of Experience Economy" of the University of Sunderland, where she was researcher and coordinator of several European Founded research projects, and the research group of Tourism at the University of Deusto. She is an active member of national and international networks in the field of tourism: Red Universitaria de Posgrados en Turismo (REDINTUR); International Federation for IT and Travel and Tourism (IFITT); and Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE). She is currently Head of the Department of Tourism at the University of Deusto.
