Janire Fonseca Peso holds a PhD with European Mention Cum Laude in Educational Innovation and Lifelong Learning. She teaches in the Faculty of Education and Sport, specifically, in the Degree of Social Education. She is an official member of the research team "INTERVENCION; Quality of Life and Social Inclusion" recognised by the Basque Government (IT-1220-19 in category A). Her lines of research focus on citizen participation, community development, risk and protection factors in adolescence and youth and socio-educational intervention strategies. In recent years she has been working mainly in the fields of citizenship, development education and leisure and free time, in programmes that promote social justice, awareness, empowerment and socio-educational inclusion. She has also worked with vulnerable and high-risk groups, both nationally and internationally.
