What are they?
The University of Deusto, along with the collaboration of financial institutions, has created the Honour Loans Programme to complement the Deusto Grants Programme. These loans offer students with good academic records and limited financial resources the possibility of financing their degree up to a maximum of 80%.
50 honour loans are granted each academic year. These loans are compatible with other public or private aid that students may obtain to finance theirundergraduate, Master's and doctoral research studies.
No personal or real guarantees from students or their families are required.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS 2024-2025
No interest and no fees
Honour loans are interest-free and fee-free. The repayment of the honour loan startstwo years after completion of studies and has a maximum duration of 4 years.
In addition, full or partial early repaymentscan be made at any time in order to free up loan resources that can be used for the benefit of other students.
Loan application requirements
The University of Deusto takes the following into account when selecting the beneficiaries of honorary loans:
General Requirements
Applicants for an honour loan must be recipients of aDeusto financial aid grant.
Those masters students who are not beneficiaries of a Deusto financial aid grant, even if they meet the established requirements, may be invited to participate in this programme.
Academic requirements
- New students enrolling in undergraduate studies at the University of Deusto who have obtained an average mark equal to or higher than 8 in the entry qualifications (baccalaureate or equivalent studies), who enrol for a minimum of 60 credits for the course in question and do not hold a university qualification that qualifies them for professional practice.
- Students in later years of undergraduate degrees taught at the University of Deusto enrolling for a minimum of 60 credits for the course in question, or for the total number of credits required to complete the syllabus, with no credits pending from the previous year. They must have obtained an average grade equal to or higher than 7 on their academic transcript.
- Students enrolled in Master's and Doctoral studies at the University of Deusto, who do not hold a previous postgraduate or doctoral degree and who, ordinarily, have an average grade on the academic transcript of the entry qualification equal to or higher than 7. The curriculum vitae, the academic and personal motivations put forward by the applicant and his/her relationship with the University of Deusto will also be taken into account.
Assessment
Taking into account that one of the academic criteria is one of the main criteria for the award, the submitted loan applications will be assessed individually. This assessment will include the amounts of Deusto grants eventually awarded to applicants for honorary loans, as well as the academic and financial circumstances that apply in each case.
Partner institutions
Loans are processed through Kutxabank or Santander banks.
The decisions considered by the financial institution will be notified to the University of Deusto Grants Service, which, in turn, will notify students of the decision taken on their loan application..
Application, deadline, decision and notificaiton to students
Applicants must be beneficiaries of a Deusto Financial Aid Grant (for undergraduate students), or have fulfilled the requirements to receive one even if they are not beneficiaries (for Master's students). The Grants Service will select those students who meet all other requirements from among all these students.
The Grants Service may request additional documentation as it deems necessary for the proper management of the Honours Loan Scheme.
By submitting a loan application, applicants authorise the University of Deusto’s Grants Service to use all available means to verify the accuracy of the academic and financial data provided by them.
Selection of applications
- The Grants Committee will assess and consider each application individually in order to select a number of applications not exceeding 50 per academic year.
- The decisions taken by the Grants Committee are final and therefore not subject to appeal.
Processing of applications
- The loan applications selected by the Grants Committee are sent by the University of Deusto’s Grant Service to the corresponding financial institution for consideration.
If approved, students will be required to sign a declaration of honour on a standard form.
