Deusto Arrupe Grants

At the University of Deusto, we believe in talent, hard work, and dedication. Supporting talent triggers a chain reaction that benefits individuals, their families, communities and society.

For this reason, the University of Deusto has launched the Deusto Arrupe Grants to support the development of the society in which it is deeply rooted. To create opportunities. To ensure that talent is not lost due to a lack of financial resources. To recognise that a future for young people means a future for the entire community. And to stay true to our values and our commitment to society.

Grant allocation

The University of Deusto awards 25 grants each year to undergraduate students with outstanding academic records and limited financial resources.

These grants cover 80% of the annual tuition fees and may extend to full coverage after public administration grants have been allocated and applied.

  • Achieve an average grade of 7 or higher in the final year of secondary school, vocational training, and/or equivalent.
  • The household income should not exceed the minimum wage if the applicant is the only eligible member, or if the household consists of a single parent and the applicant.
In the case of households with 3 or more members, the household income must not exceed the threshold 1 of the financial aid grant for undergraduate studies for the 2025-2026 academic year, as detailed in the table below:

Decisions

Once the submission deadline has ended, the Grants Service must submit a detailed report to the Grants Committee responsible for resolving this call, evaluating all applications that meet the requirements and proposing candidates for the Deusto Arrupe Grant.

The decision of the Deusto Arrupe Grant Committee will be communicated to the relevant departments for the application of the grant, and applicants will be informed as soon as the decision is made regarding whether the grant is approved or denied.

If the application is denied, the University’s Grants Service will proceed to include the application and supporting documents in the economic aid grants for undergraduate studies for the 2025-2026 academic year, once the application period opens.

Supporting documents

To be considered for processing, applications must be submitted with the following documentation:

Academic documentation (for new students):

  • Transcript of records corresponding to the first year of Baccalaureate studies, Vocational Training courses and/or equivalent qualifications [only new students].

Financial documentation (for all grant applicants):

  • A complete photocopy of the income tax return (IRPF) for the immediately preceding year for all members of the household.

Residents of Biscay must submit the “Total Tax Amount” document or the simulated income tax settlement for the preceding year, as provided to all taxpayers by the Biscay Provincial Treasury.

  • Certificate of all income earned in 2023 in the household/family unit, resulting from unemployment, pensions, promotion funds, etc. and which are not included in the personal income tax return.

In the case of separation or divorce:

  • Copy of the settlement agreement.
  • Proof of the updated amount of the pension received or, failing this, documentation that it has not been received in 2023 or a copy of the complaint for non-payment of the periodical payments.
  • Copy of the income tax return for the immediately preceding year of the non-custodial parent, or a certificate from the tax authorities indicating the income for that year.

According to the Deusto grant regulations, 50% of the income of the non-custodial parent will be taken into account, and they will be considered a dependent member for the purpose of the application assessment.

Personal documentation:

  • A certificate providing proof of permanent residence, which must include a list of all the persons residing in the home.
  • A letter from the programme director
  • A letter from the student's tutor.

In these two letters, the applicant's eligibility must be endorsed.

In any case, the Grants Committee may request the submission of any documentation it deems necessary for the proper assessment of the applications.
