HOW CAN I APPLY FOR THE DECA CERTIFICATE FOR PRIMARY EDUCATION OR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION?
The certificate of the Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence (DECA) is issued by the Spanish Episcopal Conference.
As of 2 January 2022, you must complete the procedure directly through the application that will be available on the Spanish Episcopal Conference website. You will need to provide a certificate of completion of the 24 ECTS credits of the subject, which must be requested in advance from the General Secretariat at the University of Deusto. The University of Deusto is working on the implementation of a self-service system that allows to apply for certificates through the Virtual Office. Until then, you can apply for your certificate by post or in person.

Can I apply for a duplicate DECA certificate?
The duplicate may be requested if it is lost, destroyed or damaged.
If it is due to damage, the diploma being replaced (physical medium) must be invalidated.
The application for the issuing of a duplicate must be made directly to the Spanish Episcopal Conference, even if the degree was initially processed through the University of Deusto.
HOW CAN I APPLY FOR THE DECA CERTIFICATE FOR TEACHING CATHOLIC RELIGION IN SECONDARY EDUCATION?
The procedure for the issuing of the Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence (DECA) for Secondary Education is carried out directly by each interested party with the Spanish Episcopal Conference.
Previously, they must request and obtain the academic certificate that demonstrates that they have passed 18 subject-specific credits from the Secretariat General at the University of Deusto.
The University of Deusto is working on the implementation of a self-service system that allows to apply for certificates through the Virtual Office. Until then, you can apply for your certificate by post or in person.
