Certificate request

WHAT KIND OF CERTIFICATES CAN I APPLY FOR?

Personal Academic Record
(also commonly called Academic Transcript) includes details of the marks obtained so far in each of the subjects, as well as the language of instruction used to pass, recognition, etc... and the average mark of the transcript.

I am currently studying a PCEO (Official Joint Degree Programme) or a PFC (Combined Degree Programme), which academic certificate can I apply for?
Whether you are studying a PCEO (Official Joint Degree Programme) or a PFC (Combined Degree Programme - Spanish official diploma and Deusto degree programme), you are studying (or have studied) two degree programmes simultaneously. A file will be opened for each study programme and they will be certified separately. Each of them will lead to one award.
If you started a PCEO in the past and dropped out, and want to continue studying one of the programmes, the subjects you passed in the programme you did not continue (that you dropped out of and did not finished) was included in the form of Transfer of Credits in the file that continued active and will no longer be certified separately. Therefore, if you need a certificate of what you achieved in the study programme you dropped out of, you should request an a personal academic record of the studies you continued.

Enrolment certificates
Students can download an enrolment receipt from www.deusto.es/secretariavirtual, which includes details of the subjects enrolled in. However, if you need an official certificate, you can also request it. This certificate states the study programme in which you are or have been enrolled, but does not specify the subjects you were enrolled in.

Certificate of Completion of Studies
This certificate confirms that you have completed your studies and are eligible for the award of the degree.  It does not include the subjects and marks obtained. Please note that the date of completion of studies is not the date of issue of the diploma.

Certificate of External Internships (Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees)
It provides greater detail than that contained in the academic transcript, stating the tasks carried out.

PhD Thesis Defence Certificate
It certifies the successful completion of studies leading to the award of an official PhD degree, including the successful completion of the thesis defence.

Certificate of completion - Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (interuniversity joint degree)
If you have completed the studies leading to an official Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Comillas Pontifical University and the University of Deusto, or those leading to a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Comillas Pontifical University, the University of Deusto and Ramon Llull University (interuniversity joint degrees), you should bear in mind that the coordinating university and the one responsible for issuing the official degree and the European Diploma Supplement (EDS) will be Comillas Pontifical University. Therefore, academic transcripts will be requested and issued at Comillas Pontifical University as of 1 September of the year of completion of studies.

During the course of their studies and until 30 July of the year of completion (August is closed for the issuing of certificates and diplomas), students enrolled at the UD can apply for a certificate at this University. They will also apply to the UD for the issuing of their degree certificate and the UD will be responsible for processing it at the coordinating university.
If you need to request a duplicate degree or more copies of the European Diploma Supplement in the future, you must apply directly to the Comillas Pontifical University, where your file is kept.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR A CERTIFICATE?

The University of Deusto is working on the implementation of a self-service system that will make it possible to request certificates and pay fees online.

Until its implementation, you can request the certificate by sending a message to secretaria.general@deusto.es if your studies correspond to the Bilbao campus and to secretaria.general.ss@deusto.es if they correspond to the Donostia/San Sebastián campus, or in person at the General Secretary's Office of the University of Deusto on both campuses.

Important: Students or graduates of Erasmus Mundus degrees, please contact the Master's office before applying.

Download form and instructions

WHEN AND HOW CAN I GET THE REQUESTED CERTIFICATE?

The deadline for issuing certificates is 7 working days (usually 10 calendar days).

The certificate must be collected within three months of application. If it is not collected within this period, you must request it again and pay the corresponding fees.

Certificates can be collected by the interested party or an authorised person. If you wish the Certificate to be collected by another person, the authorised person must bring the authorisation form signed by the certificate holder, together with the supporting documents listed in it.

You can also request that the certificate be sent by post. To do so, you must attach a postal delivery request form completed by the certificate holder, together with the required supporting documents.

I NEED A CERTIFIED COPY OF MY ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT

The University of Deusto is not a public university and its staff does not include civil servants. Hence, it does not issue certified copies.

To obtain a certified copy you can:

  • Go to a notary's office.
  • Submit a simple copy and the original (for verification purposes) to the entity to which it is to be accredited, the recipient of the document.

I NEED MY ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT IN ENGLISH

The University of Deusto only issues its certificates in English in the case of study programmes that can be taken entirely in English.

In general, we can provide our students and graduates who request it with the official grading system translated into English (extracted from the BOE), as well as the translation of the names of the subjects, which allows the recipient to have the basic information in English, free of charge.

We know that many companies and institutions accept a sworn statement of truth with a translation made by the candidate, at least at an early stage of the process, so it is not always necessary to incur the expense of a sworn translation.

Once graduated, your EDS (European Diploma Supplement) will contain all the information of the personal academic record in Spanish, Basque and English.
