As part of the Finnish Presidency of the European Union, the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture has held in Helsinki the Conference on Gender Equality in Research and Innovation activities.

The conference discussed and planned the next steps for the advancement of gender equality in Research & Innovation (R&I) and aimed to contribute to the ongoing Horizon Europe planning process. It has brought together more than 200 people in Helsinki and many others via online streaming.

In these two days of academic debate and reflection, policy makers and practitioners have reflected on the main challenges for achieving Gender Equality. Topics such as sexual harassment in Universities, progress in Equality policies, the role of Artificial Intelligence or intersectionality have been some of the questions under discussion. The conference concluded with the adoption of a Call for Action that has reflected the EU's commitment to the advancement of equality in research and innovation activities.

The University of Deusto has been represented in this conference by Lorena Fernandez and Maria Lopez Belloso, both members of the Deusto Interdisciplinary Research Platform on Gender, who have attended the Conference and presented a Poster on the H2020 funded project Gearing Roles.
