On 26 and 27 September, the University of Deusto hosted an event within the framework of the REACH project, in which 10 European start-ups classified in round 3, from several European countries, competed in Bilbao to see which of them would go on to the last phase of the incubator.
REACH is a project funded by the European Commission, within the Horizon 2020 programme, which aims to consolidate companies working with massive amounts of data (Big Data).
The use of Big Data is a strategic asset for companies and has great transformational potential. In this regard, REACH offers the most innovative startups the opportunity to solve real problems associated with the data of companies from different European countries, such as: optimisation of energy consumption in buildings, improvement of tourism, optimisation of resources for communication companies, etc.
One of the key objectives of the project is to work towards greater European relevance in the big data market, fostering the creation of a European data economy through the implementation of the data value chain concept.
The public event took place on 27 September with the opening ceremony at the B Accelerator Tower (Gran Vía, 1, Bilbao) with the participation of the project coordinator, Reda Nouacer, CEA, French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission, who presented the project's objective, and Diego López-de-Ipiña, from Deusto, coordinator of the incubation process. The 10 startups then gave a competitive pitch, defending their respective services/products developed in various technological areas: energy, transport, retail, logistics, finance, production and tourism. The companies are AMIGO S.r.l., Amplify Analytix, CartGuard, Citio, Grama, Ideas Forward, OmegaLambdaTec GmbH, Quantum Mads, urbanmonkees and Youbiquo.
After a difficult evaluation consensus meeting, the following six startups were qualified for the next incubation phase, EVOLVE: Amplify Analytix, Ideas Forward, CartGuard, OmegaLambdaTec GmbH, urbanmonkees and Youbiquo.
