A group of 4th-year students from the double degree programme in Computer Science + Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, supervised by Professor Verónica Canivell, has reached the final of the third HPE CDS Tech Challenge, the largest programming competition of Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Spain. The AlgoRítmicos team, formed by Jorge Alcorta, Sara Hernández, Iñigo Fernández-Sopeña, Unai Igartua and Aitor Hernández, is one of the five finalists after competing for six months with 71 other teams from 34 universities and vocational training centres in Spain. The objective was to demonstrate their advanced knowledge of information and communications technologies by passing different tests of increasing difficulty.

Along with Deusto, the other proposals chosen as finalists are from the universities Carlos III, Europea de Madrid, Francisco de Vitoria and León. All of them will compete on the weekend of 27 and 28 April in Madrid in a 25-hour non-stop programming hackathon to choose the winning team. Winners will be able to choose between a tablet, a smartwatch, a gaming headset or an electric scooter as a prize. In addition, the winning team will have the opportunity to join the HPE group on an internship or employment contract basis. They will also receive registration for a technology certification in AWS, virtualisation/Kubernetes or other relevant technology. Finally, there will be surprise prizes from Hewlett Packard Enterprise and our partners for the educational institution(s) to which the winning team belongs.

Technology, talent and Artificial Intelligence have been the protagonists of the third HPE CDS Tech Challenge, a competition in which 297 students from all over Spain have participated and which aims to discover the future talents of the technology sector. 20% of the students who participated in the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 challenges have already joined HPE CDS as employees, demonstrating the success of the initiative.
