San Sebastian Campus
On Thursday 12 May, the Antonio Aranzábal Foundation presented the "Antonio Aranzábal Award", which on this occasion went to the Beistegui family. With this event, the Foundation recognises the work of this family which, through internationalisation and innovation, has been able to maintain this innovative spirit for four generations. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the 22nd Family Business Day that Deusto Business School at the San Sebastian campus has been hosting together with the Antonio Aranzábal Foundation since 2000. The central theme of this year's event was "family businesses: projects for the future", with the participation of the following participants: Iñigo Guinea (Manager and member of the third generation of GHI Smart Furnaces), José Manuel Echarri (Manager and member of the second generation of Echemar) and Isabel Sanchez (CEO of Delaviuda Confectionery Group). The conference was also attended by Unai Andueza, director of the Department of Strategic Projects of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and Xabier Riezu, vice-rector of the San Sebastian campus at the University of Deusto.
The conference also served to present the Family Business and Talent Practices (PREFYT)initiative by the Antonio Aranzabal Foundation, Rural Kutxa and Deusto Business School, in which well-established family businesses have collaborated by welcoming young talent to participate in their strategic projects. Anton Aranzábal (Antonio Aranzábal Foundation), Álvaro de la Rica (Dean of Deusto Business School) and Juan Mari Ayechu (Rural Kutxa) took part in the presentation. Those shortlisted to participate in the programme are faced with the challenge of developing a strategic project within a family business in Gipuzkoa with international outreach. In addition to the job opportunity it represents, it offers the possibility of working in a local company, with expectations of growth and the guarantee of an ambitious professional career plan. plan.
This programme benefits three groups: the young and educated group, facilitating their participation in interesting projects so that they can get to know and be known by well-established companies in the region; the well-established, competitive and dynamic family businesses, which, as well as making themselves known, gain visibility among young university students in the region; thus, Gipuzkoa as a whole also gains, as it allows our region to retain both well-established business projects and talent in the region to prevent the drain of qualified youth and promote business projects.

Antonio Aranzábal Foundation and Deusto Business School
The Antonio Aranzábal Foundation was created by Antonio Aranzábal in 1998 with the aim of promoting and fostering the development of entrepreneurs. To this end, the Foundation awards training grants, scholarships, prizes and other forms of incentives every year to support and recognise entrepreneurs. This is carried out by identifying them from an early age, supporting them in their education and finally, by recognising their achievements as entrepreneurs, endorsed by their track record.
The Foundation has established important and ambitious collaboration programmes with two universities: the University of Deusto, in its Chair of Family Business, and with the University of Navarre, in its Chair of Thermal and Fluids Engineering. It also collaborates with the La Salle School in Zarauz to award scholarships and grants to the best performing students. Finally, it has been collaborating with the Novia Salcedo Foundation in sponsoring its Pegasus projectsince the start of this initiative in 2013, the aim of which is to support youth employment.
Specifically, the collaboration between the Antonio Aranzábal Foundation and the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at the University of Deusto celebrates its twenty-second anniversary this year in support of family businesses through the Family Business Chair promoted by both institutions.
