The University of Deusto and Grupo SSI, Servicios Sociales Integrados S. Coop. have signed an agreement for the creation of a scientific-professional space in which to improve training and research in the field of Social Work. This agreement, promoted by the Deusto Social Values team and the degree in Social Work, will have as its strategic lines the intervention with the elderly and their environment, women and minors in situations of social vulnerability, and the professionalisation of the care economy and longevity.
The collaboration also hopes to help disseminate the advances in knowledge regarding social intervention with the aforementioned groups and areas, by organising conferences or seminars in which to share and confront the academic, professional, political and social community; as well as to promote the vocation for research in Social Work and the development of applied research or doctoral theses.
Juan José Etxeberria, Rector of the University of Deusto, and Karmele Acedo, CEO of SSI Group, signed the agreement in the presence of Ane Ferran, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and Martin Zuñiga, researcher of the Deusto Social Values Team and responsible for the agreement. Merche Arribas, President of the Group, Rosa Lavín, Economic-Financial Director, and Andere Goirigolzarri, Head of R&D, were also present at the event on behalf of the ISS Group.
