Deusto, alongside the other ten partner universities of UNIC - European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition, have come together in Rotterdam to sign a collaboration agreement that will launch the alliance into its new and ambitious phase. This noteworthy event was held as part of the UNIC Conference on Transitions and Transformations: The Future of the UNIC European University which is being held in Rotterdam on 25-26 September. This third conference marks the end of UNIC's first three years and the beginning of a new and ambitious phase.

During these two days, Erasmus University Rotterdam is hosting more than 130 members of the UNIC community to discuss the transformations and transitions of the alliance and celebrate the achievements of its first phase. The University of Deusto is represented by a delegation of 16 people, including the General Secretary, Stella Solernou, the Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations, Javier Arellano, a representative of the Student Board and 13 people from the Deusto administrative and academic team at UNIC.

With this symbolic signing, UNIC brings to a close a period that began in 2020 and will start a new one that will officially begin on 1 October. And it does so with a renewed and expanded mission, a strengthened commitment to higher education for the future and guaranteed financial support from the European Commission for the next four years.

Building on the foundations laid down during this time, UNIC will focus in the coming years on increasing its social impact by fostering models of inter-institutional learning, teaching and research that are deeply engaged with the diverse post-industrial urban ecosystems.
