Deusto Business School, the University of Deusto Business School, has earned the prestigious accreditation from AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), an international organization that recognizes the best business schools in the world. Only six Spanish universities and 6% of the world's business schools have received this "seal" that accredits quality and excellence in executive education. Founded in 1916, the AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools.
With this recognition, Deusto Business School has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development and student learning, said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. Hence, she congratulated the University of Deusto Business School and Dean Álvaro de la Rica on earning accreditation and applauded the entire Deusto Business School team - including the administration, faculty, staff and students- for their roles in obtaining this respected honor.
Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally and, as a result, places Deusto Business School among the select list of leading institutions in business education. Currently, only 890 institutions across 58 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation in business, representing 6% of business schools on five continents. The University of Deusto Business School is the sixth Spanish academic institution and the first in the Basque Country to earn this accreditation.
World-class business education
AACSB accreditation guarantees, in the words of the dean of Deusto Business School, continuous improvement and guides schools to focus on their mission, on innovation and on generating a positive impact. Accreditation requires a rigorous review process, which is carried out by peer experts in the business education community and can take several years to complete. This comprehensive process ensures that accredited schools have the resources, accreditations and commitment to provide students with a world-class, future-oriented business education. In addition, 189 institutions maintain supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
For this reason, Dean Alvaro de la Rica thanked the faculty, staff, students, alumni and the business community for their help in achieving the AACSB seal. "This accreditation is a recognition of our work towards continuous improvement that will have an impact among our students and the Deusto Business School community, as well as an important contribution to our international presence," he said.
"Deusto Business School and the University of Deusto's commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication - not only to their students, alumni network and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole," said Stephanie Bryant, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International. "Today's students are tomorrow's business leaders, and the addition of Deusto Business School to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally".
