Bilbao Campus
With the Agur Jaunak, the investiture ceremonies for new graduates, which had been on hiatus during the pandemic, resumed. On 29 January, these events were resumed on the Bilbao campus in two ceremonies. The first ceremony brought together the graduates in Business Administration and Management Development Programme and Business Administration and Management + Industrial Technologies Engineering of the 2019-20 graduating class. The second ceremony was attended by the graduates of the ADE + Management Development Programme of the 2018-19 graduating class and the ADE + Law graduates of the 2019-20 graduating class.
After the prayer, the ceremonies continued with two representatives from each degree programme, who addressed an emotional speech to those present about their experiences during their studies at Deusto. The alumni speakers were Triana Anasagasti (ADE + ITI, class of 2020), Bosco Amann (ADE + PDD, class of 2020), Luis Viadero (ADE + PDD, class of 2019) and Jone Ramírez (ADE + Law, class of 2020).
This was followed by the investiture oath of four new graduates representing each graduating class. Mikel Zufia (ADE + ITI, class of 2020) and Nerea Ibarguchi (ADE + PDD, class of 2019) took the oath in Basque; Luz Ibarrondo (ADE + PDD, class of 2020) and Iñigo Martín Estecha (ADE + Law, class of 2020) in Spanish. After the solemn declaration, the deans presented them with their scholarships as a symbol of the awarding of the degree obtained.
Then, the Secretary of the Faculty, Macarena Cuenca, who acted as master of ceremonies, named the rest of the new graduates, who stood up and received a warm applause once they were all named.
The Rafael Luis Álvarez awards were then presented by Víctor Múgica, Secretary of the Bernaola Foundation, who explained the lines of action of this foundation that seeks intergenerational solidarity and the important legacy of Professor Álvarez, who endowed the awards to the best final degree projects carried out by the students. In the fourth edition, Aitor Larrañaga, Alex Negrete, Nerea Onaindia and Iker Prieto won the award for the 2BE project. In the 5th edition, the following were recognised for the EusKommerce project: Gonzalo Alonso, Imanol Cózar, Inés Darpón and Alejandro Mendezona. In the 6th edition, the prize in the general category went to the Amsa project made up of Sofía Burguillo, María de las Matas, Rocío Nebreda and Enara Ibarra, and the award for the I-CARTS project went to Nikola Egia, Alain Irastorza, Aitzol Larrabe, Eleder Loriaux and the prize in the social impact category went to the Microfinance Bank Tumaini project devised by Ander García Uriarte, Alvaro Izaguirre, Marcos Ortíz de Zárate and Beñat Unanue.
The General Manager of Deusto Business Alumni, Naiara Tobalina, also took the floor to address all those present and encourage the new graduates to be part of the association, which this year celebrates its centenary, and to generate authentic connections of value.
Congratulating the new graduates, the deans of the three faculties involved in these degrees closed the ceremony: Gema Tomás, Dean of Law, Álvaro de la Rica, Dean of Deusto Business School and Asier Perallos, Dean of Engineering. All those present left the auditorium after listening to the university anthem Gaudeamus Igitur performed by the Deustoarrak choir.
