On 14 December 2020 the United Nations General Assembly declared 2021-2030 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing.The World Health Organization (WHO) is encouraged to lead the implementation of the Decade, in collaboration with the other United Nations organisations. Governments, international and regional organisations, civil society, the private sector, academia and the media are also encouraged to actively support the Decade’s goals. It represents an opportunity to bring together governments, civil society, international agencies, professionals, academia, the media, and the private sector for ten years of concerted, catalytic and collaborative action to improve the lives of elderly people, their families and the communities in which they live.
