Ángela Bermúdez es la Investigadora Principal del Centro de Ética Aplicada de la Universidad de Deusto. Dirige la línea de investigación sobre Conflictos y Culturas de Paz. Su investigación indaga sobre cómo la educación histórica en entornos formales e informales promueve o impide una comprensión crítica de la violencia política y, por tanto, la construcción de paz. Obtuvo su doctorado de la Escuela de Educación de la Universidad de Harvard en 2008, donde investigó la participación de los jóvenes en la discusión de controversias sociales y políticas. Antes de ello, trabajó en Colombia, de donde es originaria, desarrollando programas curriculares y recursos didácticos, formando maestros, enseñando a jóvenes e investigando en los campos de las ciencias sociales, la educación para la democracia y el desarrollo moral. A lo largo de los años ha sido consultora de diversas instituciones como el Ministerio de Educación Nacional de Colombia, la Secretaría de Educación de Bogotá, la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA), la Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI), y la Instituto para el Fomento de la Educación Superior (ICFES). Ha sido docente, entre otras, en la Universidad de Deusto (Bilbao), Northeastern University (Boston), Harvard University (Cambridge), Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá) y la Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO, Buenos Aires).
